传记法国编导。父母是作家。大学时代先学医，后研修科学，当过记者，后转向剧本写作，擅长写喜剧。70年代写了一批搞笑喜剧，引入注目。1976年获好莱坞支持，编导美国片《超级玩具》，成为他的导演处女作。之后活跃于欧美两地，同时进行编剧和导演工作。1998年的《客人变成猪》极为成功。
